FULL TIME AFTER PENALTIES!

The game has ended in penalties between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk. The final penalty score: 4 - 2

120'

Niall Newberry's excellent report will be online soon and we'll have plenty of reaction on extratime.ie throughout the evening. Thanks for joining us here and from myself, Tom O'Connor, at the Aviva it's oíche mhaith.

120'

Jubilation to our right as Rovers fans and supporters celebrate. Four top class penalties and Mannus went the right way for all bar one of the penalties. They'd a gameplan to deal with Dundalk all game and their keeper was able to stand up at the end.

120'

And that's it! Heartbreak for Dundalk as they lose 4-2 on penalties and the treble dream is over. Rovers have ended a drought of 32 years in the competition to pick up their 25th FAI Cup on a day where they more than matched their opponents during the 120 minutes.

The former Athlone man with another solid outing in the middle

112'

Substitution

Decent shift from the former Sligo Rovers man, worked his socks off and earned the penalty.

110'

ALMOST!

Great ball down the right by Jamie McGrath to release Sean Gannon but it trickles out of play and Mannus drives the kickout long.

108'

Slow start to this second half  of ET as fatigue is starting to become a factor.

Another Gannon block. Benson heads out and Dundalk clear.

JACK BYRNE!

Lovely dancing feet from the midfielder set up Bolger who's crowded out in the Dundalk box and it's a goal kick. Yellow appears to be for dissent.

103'

SEAN GANNNON!

Absolutely superb defending from the full back to nick the ball from Aaron Greene following a great ball from Jack Byrne.

99'

Substitution

Jordan Flores replaces Patrick Hoban for Dundalk.

Hoban did well today, certainly put in a shift. Flores now with a chance to take control of the midfield.

98'

Joey O'Brien headed it out under no pressure. Kelly's tame header is easily caught by Mannus.

Fouled Jack Byrne in midfield. Looks like the frontman is now in the middle.

The first half of extra-time between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk has started.

90' + 3'

WHAT. A. GAME.

Not going lie! That was an incredible few minutes!

Throw in by Massey, not cleared by Rovers and hammered to the net by Michael Duffy,

90' + 3'

GOAL!

Michael Duffy scores for Dundalk.

Sent Rogers the wrong way and crashed it to the right of the net.

89'

Yellow Card

Gary Rogers is booked for Dundalk.

Fouled Greene. PENALTY!

89'

DUFFY!

First time we've really seen the winger in a long time. Fed the ball by Jamie McGrath but drags his effort well wide.

85'

CHANCE!

Farrugia skips past Gannon and his cross is met by Graham Burke who can only head it straight at Gary Rogers. Let off for Dundalk.

82'

Massey fouls Burke and it's Byrne to the right of the Dundalk penalty aea. Cleared out for a throw in.

Both sets of fans must be freezing as the flares have appeared again!

80'

Corner Kick

Shamrock Rovers have won a corner kick. Jack Byrne will take it.

Farrugia won it the corner with a Gannon tackle and Dundalk clear.

78'

Super work from Dan Kelly to skip inside Lee Grace but fails to prodice a cross and Mannus has a goalkick.

Incidentally, the Hoare yellow earlier was a for a midfield foul,

Rovers fighting back as we've just under a quarter of an hour left to play here.

74'

BURKE!

Great stop by Rogers to flip the short range effort over the crossbar following a Finn pullback. The keeper rewarded with a goal kick!

73'

Yellow Card

Sean Hoare is booked for Dundalk.

71'

Yellow Card

Fouled McGrath as he broke away in midfield. Not happy at the decision.

Short to Aaron McEneff and Gartland crunches into Gary O'Neill to win a goal kick

65'

TACTICS UPDATE

Following that change, Jamie McGrath has moved centrally with Dan Kelly operating wide right alongside fellow Ringsend man Sean Gannon.

61'

Substitution

Daniel Kelly replaces Sean Murray for Dundalk.

61'

Corner Kick

Shamrock Rovers have won a corner kick. Jack Byrne will take it.

Great defending by Gartland to take the ball away from Aaron Greene. Hoban clears the corner well.

57'

MURRAY!

Great ball in by Gannon, Hoban laid it back and Murray knocked it goalwards but it lacked the pace and direction to trouble Mannus. Good team move though from Dundalk!

55'

Rovers turning the screw here with Aaron McEneff to the fore. Dundalk struggling to get a foothold in this secondn half.

50'

Sean Kavanagh fouled Gannon in midfield as the Ringsend lads collided. Nothing from the free kick but a Rovers attack and Burke, once more, fired over the bar. The former Aston Villa man is looking lively.

48'

No changes to either side as Aaron McEneff takes the ball off his opposite number 10 who releases Graham Burke but Gary Rogers saves well..

46'

Second Half

The second half between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk has started.

45'

Fairly even game so far- most of the ball with Rovers, most of the chances Dundalk. Massive second half in store so I hope you'll join us in a few minutes!

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk.

44'

Lopes clatters into Hoban and Dundalk have a free kick on the angle of the penalty area,Murray swings it in and Massey heads just  wide at the far post.

43'

Mishit cross from Finn and Rogers collects. Nothing much happening here as half time closes in.

Burke fouled by Cleary in midfield and Byrne has a free kick out wide. Rogers collects and bowls left to Massey. Better work from Dundalk as they try and engineer something before the break.

39'

Corner Kick

Dundalk have won a corner kick. Sean Murray will take it.

Not as exciting this time as Rovers clear easily enough.

38'

Corner Kick

Dundalk have won a corner kick. Sean Murray will take it.

O'Brien blocked a Duffy cross. From the corner Alan Mannus clawed away a Gartland header. great save!

35'

Ding dong battle betweeen Greene and the two Dundalk central defenders all afternoon- on this occasion Gartland gets the better of the former Sligo frontman and the Lilywhites settle into a rhythm- something we've not really seen from them so far today.

31'

Corner Kick

Shamrock Rovers have won a corner kick. Jack Byrne will take it.

Won by Finn's cross being blocked by Cleary. Lopes fouls Rogers and it's a free out.

28'

Free Kick

Shamrock Rovers have won a free kick. Graham Burke will take it.

Straight at Rogers from 30 yards. Decent power but lacked direction away from the keeper.

27'

High foot from Cleary which catches Aaron Greene. Rovers free kick 30 yards out.

26'

Corner Kick

Shamrock Rovers have won a corner kick. Jack Byrne will take it.

26'

Missing nothing here as both teams engage in midfield battles. I'm sitting wondering how can Alan Mannus play in short sleeves on a day as cold as this while I'm wearing umpteen layers in the Media Box.

21'

Free Kick

Dundalk have won a free kick. Dane Massey will take it.

Edge of the box but curled well over.

20'

Free kick to Dundalk on the edge of the area as Murray, Hoban, Grace and Lopes collide. Confused? So am I.

19'

First effort for Rovers on target as Rogers flopped to his right to collect a daisy cutter from Graham Burke. Meat and drink but a sign of intent.

15'

Corner Kick

Shamrock Rovers have won a corner kick. Jack Byrne will take it.

15'

Greene again to the fore as he picks Cleary's pocket but his cross can't be tapped in by Ronan Finn and Rovers get a corner.

13'

Aaron Greene showing well to fashion a chance for himself, stepping inside Hoare but dragged his shot wide of Rogers' left hand post.

A second effort on the angle flashes wide of the same post as Byrne picked the number 22 out with a fine pass.

10'

Dundalk still struggling to stamp any authority on the game so far as Rovers play it around the field. Byrne and Burke have been on the ball a lot so far while Ronan Finn is very advanced on the right hand side.

7'

Plenty of high pressing from Rovers but it's Dundalk with the only two shots of the game so far- both efforts from Sean Murray which never threatened Mannus.

4'

Rovers with early pressure as Joey O'Brien clatters into Massey, no lasting effects as the left full is involved in Dundalk's patient buildup- 6 passes before Rogers goes long. Flares have died down a bit now so it's a bit easier to see the action.

1'

GAME ON!

The game between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk has kicked off.

0'

National Anthem done, teams out of their huddles- this is it! Rovers to play into their own fans in the first half. Left to right as we see it- North Stand to South Stand if you prefer, Decent looking crowd and loud!

0'

Less than 10 minutes until kick off and the atmosphere is really starting to build here- we've fans at the opposite ends of the stadium chanting at each other, proper Cup Final stuff!

0'

For Shamrock Rovers, it's presumably a back 3 of O'Brien, Grace and Lopes with Sean Kavanagh and Ronan Finn as wingbacks. Aaron McEneff, Gary O'Neill and Jack Byrne in the middle with Graham Burke supporting Aaron Greene in advanced roles.

0'

Team news in- big news for Dundalk is that Sean Hoare starts, presumably at the base of midfield while team captain Brian Gartland takes his place in the centre of the Dundalk defence. No Patrick McEleney in the Dundalk squad with Sean Murray starting alongside Michael Duffy and Jamie McGrath in midfield. Jordan Flores makes the bench.

0'

Both teams are out doing their respective warmups, there's a set of drummers in front of the Shamrock Rovers end and, it has to be said, there's not a massive crowd to be seen. Hopefully that will change in the half hour or so we've left until kick off.

0'

No team news as of yet but while you're waiting have a read of Niall Newberry's excellent match preview http://extratime.ie/matches/detail/39617/0/
