Really good chance for Pats.
A long cross finds Dave Webster at the back post. He headers the ball back across goal to Ian Bermingham who forces Alan Mannus into a save. Unfortunately the header was too weak and did not trouble Mannus too much in the end.
High foot and studs showing challenge from Markey. Perhaps a tad lucky to only be shown a yellow.
From the ensuing free kick Byrne dinks it deftly into the box where it finds Roberto Lopes but he can only watch in frustration as his header goes wide. He probably should have scored and really should have hit the target.
Big chance missed.

McCabe walks off the pitch but looks a bit groggy.
If there was ever a time to step up for Forrester this is it.

Nice looking cross from Kavangh is just over the head of Aaron Greene.
It is half-time between Shamrock Rovers and St. Patrick's Athletic.
It feels as if Rovers have been in third gear most of the game, while Pats seem to be working very hard not to give them any opportunities, and still it's the home side who are 1-0 in front.
Ronan Finn scores for Shamrock Rovers.
Lovely from Finn who has been excellent today.
Some crisp intricate passing between in the Pats box between Finn and Brandon Kavanagh gave the captain time and space to send Clarke the wrong way.
Aaron McEneff with the shot from a tight angle but it's straight at Brendan Clarke. He probably should have crossed.
Brandon Kavanagh nearly gets on the end of a cross but is unlucky and Pats just manage to clear the danger.
Byrne puts Finn away down the right again with a quick free kick. Finn fakes his cross beautifully at first which gives him loads of time on the ball to pick out Lee Grace with a perfect cross. The defender gets brilliant contact on it with his head but its wide.
Rovers are beginning to find their feet now. Ronan Finn manages to evade Ian Bermingham on the right but his low cross is cleared.
Jack Byrne shoots straight at the keeper in the home side's first real attack.
Really good start here from Pats. Mikey Drennan gets on the end of a cross but can't control the ball. That was a really good chance after he had managed to evade his marker.
Their fans aswell are also making themselves heard after getting the flares in early.
Sorry there was a bit of false information. It is Ben Connolly who is taking charge of the game. Probably for the best.
