CORK CITY
Runaway First Division leaders Cork City host Finn Harps in the FAI Cup on Saturday evening at Turner’s Cross (kick-off is at 5pm).
The Leesiders are 15 points clear at the summit and only defeated Finn Harps 1-0 last weekend at home, thanks to a stunning Cathal O’Sullivan goal.
Tim Clancy’s side are also unbeaten at home this term and will be keen to maintain that run as league rivals Finn Harps visit in the FAI Cup.
They have played against their Co Donegal foes three times this season, drawing once (1-1) in February before winning twice in April (2-0) and last week.
The Rebels Army last won the FAI Cup in 2017 and have won the competition four times before.
They are, however, yet to issue team news for Saturday’s game.
FINN HARPS
Finn Harps are likely to be without the services of Darragh Coyle and Stephen Doherty through injury for their tie against Cork City on Saturday evening.
The Co Donegal men may also be without striker Sean Patton who is on trial with English side Portsmouth this week. Kevin Jordan is also a doubt.
But their boss Darren Murphy is hoping his side can pick up a big result against Clancy’s City.
He told Donegal Live: “Tim Clancy (Cork City manager) has said that in the three games we've played that we have been hugely competitive and very unlucky.
“We created chances in Cork on Friday night. It wasn't even a battling 1-0, we were in the game.
“We had chances, even at 1-0 down we responded. It was pleasing and the players have to take belief out of that. We'll have to try to do what no-one has done this year in Cork – beat Cork.”
