Extratime Bets - Week 6

Mervue United fans reading this column will not be enjoying it too much. Last week I correctly tipped up Wexford Youths to triumph over the Galway side and this week I am going with something similar.

Waterford United have had a shaky start to the season but I think they should have enough to win away to Mervue.

The Blues lost last weekend 2-0 to Finn Harps in a game that was disrupted for over 20 minutes by a serious injury to the Harps goalkeeper.

Waterford have also lost their two opening away fixtures this season; losing 6-0 to Wexford and 3-2 to Longford Town.

But, Mervue have never beaten Waterford United in their nine previous meetings in the League of Ireland and I cannot seem them changing that stat on Friday night.

If playing 11 games this season – including friendlies - and loosing TEN of them was not bad enough for manager Johnny Glynn he also has a monstrous list of injuries and suspensions to deal with.

Martin Conneely, James Casserley, Tom King, Michael McSweeney and Brian Connolly are all definitely out, while there are doubts over Alan Murphy and Gary Kelly.

Captain Mike Elwood continues to be suspended with an additional two game ban, while fellow centre-half, Stephen Walsh, will also sit this one out having been sent off against Wexford last week.

Mervue have managed just the single goal in their three home games this season and I firmly believe Waterford will do the business in Fahy's Field.

Good luck!
