Extratime Bets - Week 5

Credit:

Last week was a good opening week for this column as we landed in profit of €40 thanks to Derry City's comfortable victory over Cork City. In my second bet I was only let down by St Patrick's Athletic who played out one of the worst games I have seen in a long, long time as they drew 0-0 at Dalymount Park with Bohemians.

For week five of the season I am again going to keep it simple. There is one stand-out bet for me after checking the early prices during the week. Wexford are an eye-catching 23/20 shot to beat bottom of the table Mervue United at home on Friday night.

Now, Wexford did get hammered during the week by Cork City losing 5-1 at Turner's Cross in the EA Sports Cup, but they sent out a very weak team for a game they probably did not have much interest in.

However, in the league they're doing very well. They thrashed Waterford United 6-0 on the opening day and registered a 1-0 victory away to Finn Harps in their last league outing.

Mervue on the other hand have played 10 games since February 4th – including friendlies – and have lost NINE. Their only win came in a friendly against Drogheda in early pre-season.

I think Wexford are a sure thing and can continue their good start to the season with another three points against Mervue.

Good luck!
