Extratime Bets - Week 4

Credit:

Three weeks have passed in the new season and it is safe to say betting still remains something of a minefield in both divisions.

However, week four could see us find some winners as squads begin to come together and the form book becomes a little bit longer.

This week I have two teams I really fancy to pick up maximum points. Derry City host Cork City at the Brandywell on Friday night and I think they will win despite the loss of Rory Patterson.

While the Candystripes were beaten by an in-form Shelbourne team last week, they are notoriously solid at home and it will be very difficult for Cork, making a long trip to Derry, to go and get something.

Cork let a 1-0 lead slip in the dying seconds against Shamrock Rovers at Turner’s Cross last week and that could really work against them.

Declan Devine’s men have recorded wins over Bohs and Bray already this season and will be buoyed by their elimination of Linfield in the Setanta Cup on Tuesday and I think they will be too strong for the Leesiders on Friday night.

My second bet of the weeked takes place on Sunday when St Patrick’s Athletic take on Bohemians in a Dublin Derby at Dalymount Park.

Bohs have really been struggling so far this season and have yet to even register a league goal. The Gypsies were knocked out of the Setanta Cup on Tuesday by Crusaders while only managing one shot on target and their youthful side have a lot to learn.

The Saints on the other hand have started their league campaign quite brightly. They only managed a draw at home to Monaghan last time out but that was with only 10 men for a period of the game and they missed a penalty too. Back them to get back to winning ways.

The bets

Derry City to win @ 4/5 (Paddy Power) 5pts

St Pat’s to win @ 6/5 (Boylesports) 5pts
