Pat Fenlon confirmed as Hibernian manager

Pat Fenlon has been confirmed as the manager of Scottish Premier League club, Hibernian.

Fenlon has been appointed first team manager with immediate effect and has agreed a contract to the end of the 2013/14 season.

The 42-year-old still had a year on his contract at Dalymount Park, but the Dublin club will not be pursuing compensation.

A club statement read: "While the manager had another year on his contract with Bohemians, the club had undertaken not to stand in his way if such an opportunity arose.

"This undertaking reflected the current difficult circumstances of Bohemian FC and the club’s recognition of the particular efforts Pat Fenlon made in the 2010 season with significantly reduced resources."

"Bohemian FC thanks Pat Fenlon for his service to the club and for the major successes he brought to Bohemians since he joined in January 2008.“

Fenlon said: “I’m looking forward to put into practice all that I’ve learned during my nine years as a manager in Ireland and will be giving everything I’ve got into assembling a successful Hibernian team that everybody connected to the club can be proud of.”

As part of the release agreement for Pat Fenlon Hibernian has agreed to play a friendly against Bohemians at a date to be arranged.

Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie will introduce Pat Fenlon to the media at a press conference at Easter Road Stadium, Edinburgh, later today.
