Managerial changes sweep through Women’s Premier Division

Women’s Premier Division pair Treaty United and Wexford have confirmed that they are both on the lookout for new managers ahead of the 2025 campaign.

And they join a packed field of clubs vying for new first-team chiefs.

Sligo Rovers are also in the hunt for a new boss following Tommy Hewitt’s departure with the league’s newest entity Waterford also actively recruiting.

Though Treaty United have at least been able to prepare themselves for the departure of Dominic Foley, with the club revealing in a statement that a decision was made a few weeks ago.

The former Ireland senior men’s international departs having led the Shannonsiders to a seventh placed league finish and a win over Peamount United on Saturday afternoon.

“I loved it, it’s been a great experience, all because of the players' attitude, their willingness to train and work out made it a very enjoyable experience,” Foley said of his time at the Markets Field.

Treaty United CEO Ciara McCormack added: “Under Dom our women’s team became competitive in every game and he’s laid a fantastic foundation from which the women’s team can build on for the future.

“He is an absolutely class individual and we are extremely grateful for his commitment and efforts throughout this year.”

Wexford though only confirmed that Hugh Strong would leave the club on Saturday evening after their 2-2 draw away to Sligo Rovers.

Strong steered the Slaneysiders to a respectable fourth-placed league finish.

“Wexford FC would like to confirm that Women’s Senior Manager Hugh Strong will not be continuing with the club for the 2025 Season,” a statement read.

“Wexford FC would like to thank Hugh and his management team for their commitment during the past season and wish them well in the future.

“The search for a new Women’s Senior Manager is already underway, and the club is committed to finding the right candidate to lead the team into the next season.”
