Chester has confirmed the permanent signing of midfielder Elliott Whitehouse, following his pivotal role during a loan spell with the Blues.

The 29-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Seals after his departure from Scunthorpe United.

Whitehouse initially joined Chester on loan in March and quickly left a mark both on and off the field.

His first goal for the Blues came in a 2-1 away victory against Darlington, followed by another successful strike in the subsequent away game, a win over Southport with an identical scoreline.

Whitehouse's third goal for the club materialised in a resounding 4-0 home win against Buxton, marking a total of three goals in his seven appearances for the club last season.

Reflecting on the signing, Manager Calum McIntyre said, "Elliott is another really important acquisition for us and I am delighted that a player of his quality, experience and personality is on board for the season ahead."

McIntyre praised Whitehouse for his influential role during the loan spell and his enthusiasm for joining Chester on a permanent basis.

"Elliott was really influential during his loan spell here and his desire to come and be a part of things permanently was really clear in all of our discussions," McIntyre said.

The manager also highlighted Whitehouse's popularity among the current group and his potential contributions to the team's ambitions.

"He is popular with the current group and is someone I feel can contribute a huge amount to try and take us where we want to be, I’m pleased to be working with him again," McIntyre added.

He concluded, "Our supporters know what to expect with Elliott and I feel this is a really significant signing for us ahead of an exciting season."
