League Preview: Bohemians -v- Cork City

BOHEMIANS

League leaders Bohemians host Cork City at Dalymount Park this evening as they look to get back to winning ways (kick-off is at 5pm).

The Gypsies were held to a 1-1 draw against UCD on Friday – with Jake Doyle’s late leveller halting them in their tracks.

And the result saw their lead at the top of table cut to three points, with Derry City lurking in second spot.

But a home tie against Cork City gives them an opportunity to make amends.

“It's a disappointing result but that's all it is and we now get ourselves set for Cork on Monday,” he told the Irish Independent.

“It is a big game at Dalymount and hopefully we can perform at a higher level than we did in UCD.”

Ali Coote missed out on Friday’s draw against the Students with a knock, while James Akintunde and Jay Benn are likely to be absent again.

CORK CITY

Struggling at the foot of the Premier Division table, Cork City need a result against Bohemians this evening if they are to avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle.

Colin Healy’s side have won just twice so far this season, and those two successes came at Turner’s Cross against UCD and Dundalk.

And their away form has been wretched with just two picked up from a possible 18 games. Only UCD have a worse record.

That leaves in them in an unwanted position ahead of their trip to Dalymount Park this evening against league leaders Bohemians.

“It’s difficult for us at the moment,” Healy told the Cork Echo.

“We have to regroup and we have to stick together. It was a difficult one to take again on Friday and we have another tough game on Monday.

“We came back in on Saturday and need to get ourselves ready. Bohs are a good side.”
