Monday's win for Waterford was their fifth in a row - with 18 goals from those games - with Rónán Coughlan the hat-trick hero for the blues for the second successive match.

The 4-1 victory in Markets Field means that Keith Long's men cut the gap to First Division league leaders Galway United to seven points as the season reaches the ten game mark.

Having scored four first half goals on Friday at home to Athlone Town, Coughlan's hat-trick on Monday moves his season tally to 12.

The Waterford News & Star noted he is the first Waterford player to score back-to-back hat-tricks since John Walsh in January 1937.
