League Preview: Cobh Ramblers -v- Treaty United
Cobh Ramblers take on Treaty United at St Colman’s Park on Friday night as they look to return to winning ways (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
Shane Keegan’s side were defeated by Athlone Town last weekend but are well in the mix for the play-offs thanks to their encouraging start to the campaign.
And their boss is hoping that they can respond to their latest setback with a home Munster derby against Treaty.
"We’re looking to bounce back from what was a very disappointing result last week in Athlone," Keegan said.
"We just weren’t at our usual intensity, the levels that we know we are capable of.
"That being said, if you were to say it would be week nine before our first major blip of the season I would have taken that.
"We’ve played everybody once and my opinion is that Galway, Waterford and Bray should pull away over the course of the season, leaving the rest of us to battle out for two play-off spots.
"There is little between those other sides and it’s about squeezing results out of these games.
"It will create a fascinating season with possibly almost everybody still in the fight for play-off spots late in the year."
Treaty United visit Cobh Ramblers on Friday night in a bid to add some impetus into their stuttering season.
Last week, Tommy Barrett's side were defeated 2-0 away to Finn Harps - but that came just a week after they won their first game of the season against Longford Town.
On that occasion against Longford, Lee Devitt, Success Edogun and Dean George all netted for the Shannonsiders.
But they were hit with a reality check against Harps last weekend as Dave Rogers eased to a win.
Saying that, they know that a win against Cobh would keep them in touch with the play-off chasing pack as they sit on 6 points with eight games played.
Treaty United have not issued team news for Friday’s game.
Referee: Ray Matthews.
