League Preview: Shelbourne -v- Sligo Rovers

SHELBOURNE

Shelbourne will be looking to get back on the winning column when they host Sligo Rovers on Easter Monday (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Reds were held to a frustrating draw against UCD on Friday night with very few of their players impressing at the UCD Bowl.

So much so, their boss Damien Duff explained that he refused to speak to his side in the aftermath of the game.

But he will be hoping that his side can bounce back from that disappointment with a much improved performance against Sligo Rovers on Monday evening.

Shels had the better of the games between the two last year and also possess a very strong defensive record this season.

But goals have been lacking this term, with the loss of striker Sean Boyd a blow due to injury.

Conor Kane also remains out with a long-term injury.

SLIGO ROVERS

After sealing an impressive win away to Dundalk on Friday night, Sligo Rovers visit Tolka Park to take on Shelbourne.

The Bit O’ Red have impressed this season under boss John Russell and will be looking to seal another win on the road away against Duff’s side.

“Oriel Park is always a tough venue to play at so to come away with three points was important,” Russell said.

“I felt we managed the game really well. Our team shape and organisation was good, and we were clinical with both of our goals.

“Shelbourne are a well organised side with some good young players. They have been unlucky not to pick up more points in their games so far.

“The league is so tight and the players know you have to bring the right mentality into every game.

“We’re hoping for another big performance tomorrow night.”

Garry Buckley, Mark Byrne, Gary Boylan, Karl O’Sullivan, Johan Brannefalk, Sean McAteer and Conor Walsh are all ruled out for Sligo Rovers.

Referee: Robert Havey.
