Reece Hutchinson: 'I'm really excited to be at Sligo Rovers'

Sligo Rovers loanee Reece Hutchinson is raring to go after joining the Bit O’ Red on loan until July from Cheltenham Town.

Hutchinson is set to add some much needed defensive options to John Russell’s squad after Gary Boylan was ruled out for the season with an ACL injury.

And he departs his parent club on a short-term deal in the wake of Cheltenham’s move for striker Aidan Keena before the January transfer window shut in the UK.

“I’m really excited to be here,” Hutchinson told Sligo’s media team after joining. “As soon as I heard of an opportunity to come abroad and play in Ireland I wanted to get it done as soon as possible.

“I spoke with John and he has big ambitions for the club as well as me for the season ahead.

“I want to perform at a high level and this is the perfect platform for me to progress in my career.

“I hope to show the fans here what I am all about and bring plenty of success going forward.”

The full-back is expected to start for Sligo this season in the absence of Boylan and the injured Garry Buckley at the Showgrounds, and John Russell is pleased to have got his man.

“I’m delighted to sign Reece on a loan deal until July,” he revealed.

“When Gary Boylan suffered his injury, it was important we brought in another full back to add quality and depth to our group.

“Reece is an attacking full back who comes to us with a lot of experience at League One level in England.”
