Barry Baggley joins Waterford on loan from Fleetwood Town

Waterford FC have announced the signing of Barry Baggley on a season long loan from their sister club Fleetwood Town.

The two clubs are owned by Andy Pilley and have formed a strong relationship since Pilley took over the reins at Waterford in August 2022.

Phoenix Patterson departed the Blues for Fleetwood Town earlier in the month and now Baggley makes a move in the opposite direction, linking up with Danny Searle’s squad ahead of a week of pre-season training in Dubai next week.

21-year-old Baggley is a Belfast born midfield player and was on the books of Linfield and Glentoran before signing for Fleetwood Town in September 2018.

He made his debut for them in a 2-0 away defeat to Walsall in Sept 2019 and in so doing became Town’s youngest ever league player at 17 years and 54 days.

He has since been out on loan with National League side Altrincham Town before arriving at Waterford’s RSC grounds this week.

Bagley has accumulated 14 international caps for Northern Irelands at U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels, scoring once for the U-21’s in his five appearances.

Waterford begin their SSE Airtricity First Division campaign away to neighbours Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park on Friday February 17th.
