Waterford sign ex-Shamrock Rovers starlet Dean McMenamy

Waterford boss Danny Searle has announced his second new signing ahead of the 2023 season – snapping up the services of Dean McMenamy.

And the Blues will be looking for better luck ahead of the new campaign.

Having reached the semi-finals of the FAI Cup and the promotion/relegation play-off last season, they fell just short in both competitions.

And the expectation from fans will be for them to go one better in their aim for Premier Division football.

This signing provides that. The 20-year-old is a product of the Shamrock Rovers academy and played all the way up to the first team.

He spent last season on loan to Longford Town and was a major part in helping them to reach the play-offs playing 30 times.

Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie the midfielder said “When I heard that Waterford FC wanted to sign me, it was a no-brainer.

“It’s full-time football, the facilities and the stadium are excellent, and the fan base is top class.

“Whenever I played against the team last year, the fans were unbelievable. I can’t wait to get a chance to play a part in the club reaching this goal and getting back into the Premier Division where it belongs.”
