Longford Town snap up James Doona and Derek Daly

Longford manager Stephen Henderson has unveiled two more signings ahead of the 2023 season – signing James Doona and Derek Daly.

The club are looking to build upon what they achieved last season and go one further.

Despite a positive end to the campaign in which they finished fourth, they were unable to overcome Galway United in the play-offs.

And they have had to contend with the departure of several key players and were looking to re-build.

Winger Doona has arrived from Cork City making 14 appearances last season on the way to their title winning success.

The 24-year-old has previously played with Athlone Town, St Patrick’s Athletic and Shamrock Rovers.

Daly joined him in signing from Crumlin United.

He has experience in the First Division through spells with Waterford, Bray Wanderers and Athlone Town.

The club have also confirmed the departure of shot-stopper Colm Cox – who joins Wexford.

Longford begin their season with a home tie with Athlone on 18th of February.
