Cobh Ramblers unveil Fran Rockett as new assistant manager

First Division Cobh Ramblers have confirmed the appointment of Fran Rockett as the club’s new assistant manager.

Rockett assumes the role to work alongside Shane Keegan as manager for the season ahead.

The former Waterford interim boss was previously at St Colman’s Park when he worked under previous manager Darren Murphy.

But he left the club shortly after Murphy departed his role.

He is, however, back for the 2023 campaign as the East Cork side look to right the wrongs of a difficult two seasons at the foot of the table.

“We are pleased to announce that Fran Rockett has returned to the club in the role of first team coach and assistant manager to Shane Keegan,” a Cobh Ramblers statement read.

“Fran previously served in the same capacity under Darren Murphy at the club and we are delighted to see him return to St Colman’s Park.

“Having come through the ranks at Tramore AFC and Waterford United he spent two seasons at Cobh as a player in 2005 and 2006, before signing for Kilkenny City.

“More recently he spent four seasons coaching with Waterford and took over their senior team from John Sheridan for the conclusion of the 2020 League of Ireland season.”
