LOI transfer wrap: Galway United re-sign Edward McCarthy as Bray continue Wexford raid

Galway United have confirmed that they have re-signed Edward McCarthy ahead of the 2023 campaign.

McCarthy played a key role for the Tribesmen during the 2022 season – as John Caulfield’s side missed out on promotion to the top-flight.

But he is back for another year as Caulfield’s side look to right the wrongs of the previous two seasons.

“I’m delighted and I’m looking forward to getting started already,” McCarthy said.

“I really enjoyed my first season with the lads, it was an amazing experience.

“Hopefully this season will be enjoyable as we push for promotion.”

Elsewhere in the First Division, Bray Wanderers have snapped up Alex Moody from Wexford.

A star performer at Ferrycarrig Park last season under Ian Ryan, the former Shamrock Rovers youngster has followed his former boss to Co. Wicklow.

He will be expected to challenge Stephen McGuinness for a starting berth at the Carlisle Grounds next season.
