Cork City’s manager Colin Healy has announced his first re-signing ahead of the 2023 season.

City had a hugely successful campaign in which they won the First Division title and promotion back to the Premier Division after an absence of two years. This was a tight race in which they eventually finished ahead of Waterford and Galway Utd.

Integral to that was the form of their skipper who made 26 league appearances on the way to that achievement.

Speaking after the Rebels got promoted, Coleman said “Getting promoted back to the Premier Division was the target for all of us and we know that is where this club belongs, so we were delighted to achieve that. For myself, personally, as a Corkman, it was an honour to captain the team all season and to lift the league trophy was a moment I will never forget.”

Healy was very pleased to re-sign his club captain.

“I am very pleased that Cian has signed back again for next year. He has been a big part of what we have done over the last couple of years, and has been a real leader in the group. He has been a really good captain for us, he’s a Cork lad who came up through the academy and he really understands what it means to play for the club."

Cork City management are hopeful of naming more of the title winning side for the start of the new season in the next few weeks.
