11 League of Ireland clubs will return to Leinster Senior Cup action for the first time in three years in February.

One of the oldest cup competitions in Irish football resumed earlier this month following a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

14 clubs from across the junior and intermediate football leagues of Leinster entered the first round of the competition, with four receiving a bye to round two.

There had been uncertainty about whether the League of Ireland clubs - who have opted out of the EA Sports Cup in recent years - would take part.

But extratime.com can confirm that the 11 Leinster-based League of Ireland clubs will join the competition in February alongside the five remaining non-league sides.

Athlone Town, Bohemians, Bray Wanderers, Drogheda United, Dundalk, Longford Town, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, St Patrick’s Athletic, UCD and Wexford will all join in.

The second round sees perennial LSC competitors like North End United and New Oak Boys joined by newcomers like Kilbarrack United’s Saturday side and Sheriff YC Over-35s.

Leinster Senior Cup Second Round:

North End United (WX) v Evergreen FC (KK)

St Peters (WW) v Gorey Rangers (WX)

Oliver Bond Celtic (LSL) v Suncroft AFC (KE)

New Oak Boys (CW) v Kilbarrack United (LSL)

VEC FC (UCFL) or Usher Celtic (LSL) v Sheriff YC (AFL)

Games to be played on the weekend of October 2nd.
