With the League of Ireland Premier Division on an international break this week, football fans in Dublin can still get their live Friday night football fix and can do so in aid of charity to support the Red Cross’ Ukraine crisis fund.

A Republic of Ireland fan XI will take on a Ukrainian fan team in Home Farm Football Club this coming Friday with a 7.30pm kick off in the game organised by the You Boys In Green supporters group.

Tickets are priced at €10 and can be purchased online here – the money raised is  going to the Irish Red Cross Ukraine crisis appeal fund.

And even if you are planning on going to one of the four First Division games on Friday or not – with the closest one to Dublin being Bray Wanderers v Wexford – and can’t make Whitehall you can always buy a virtual match ticket with the ticket price being donated to the crisis fund.

Guests at the game will be the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland Larysa Gerasko and the Lord Mayor of DublinCouncillor Alison Gilliland.

“This new phase of the fighting in Ukraine has sent an ominous chill down my spine. The intensification and spread of the conflict risk a scale of death and destruction that are frightening to contemplate, given the immense military capacities involved.”

— Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Money raised from this appeal will fund the Red Cross teams on the ground now in Ukraine that are supportinghealth facilities, and helping families with life-saving food and hygiene items.
