Galway United have announced the signing of Spanish striker Manu Dimas ahead of the 2022 League of Ireland First Division season.

The 29 year old joins the Tribesmen after a brief spell with Spanish Tercera Division side CF Union Viera.

“I am very happy for being able to be here, and I feel good very good. Since we arrived yesterday, everything has been fine, all started very well. We have been very well looked after and I feel good and I’m very happy. I can’t wait to start,” Dimas said, speaking to the clib’s media team.

“Yes, speaking with the coach, he told me that the last season we were about to be promoted, and that the objective this year was to achieve that promotion, so yes what motivates me to be here is to win and yes to achieve the objective, getting to the Premier Division.”

Dimas began his professional career with Spanish second tier side Las Palmas and he went on to have spells with Estrella CF, La Roda, CD Guijuelo and CD Marino.

The striker played in the Europa League during his time with Europa in Gibraltar and he helped the side to claim the 2019 Rock Cup Final when they saw off Gibraltar United that season.

Dimas also had a spell with El Salvadoran club Metapán before returning to Spain to sign for Union Viera last October.

The Tribesmen begin their campaign away to Cork City on Friday, 25 February.
