Finn Harps have announced the signing of 26-year-old Conor Tourish from Letterkenny Rovers.

The centre-back previously spent five years at Derry City, although his time there was blighted by injury. Tourish then signed for Institute FC in 2019 before moving to Ulster Senior League side Letterkenny Rovers.

The 26-year-old has represented the Republic of Ireland at amateur and under-18 level and was also nominated for FAI intermediate player of the year in 2019.

With Shane McEleney and Kosovar Sadiki having left the club recently, manager Ollie Horgan hopes that Tourish will fill the gap left in the Harps defence.

“It’s great to be able to get Conor in,” Horgan told the club’s website.

“He’s a strong central defender and a good lad who fits in well with the squad we’re putting together. It’s definitely a step up into the Premier from the Ulster Senior League but he’s well able for it.”

Tourish has begun training with the Premier Division side and said that he jumped at the opportunity to sign. “It was a no brainer when Ollie gave me the call,” the defender added.

“I really enjoyed my season with Institute before the season was cut short. As a local lad I’m excited to be a Finn Harps player and hopefully the club will have a strong season.”
