Galway WFC have announced the re-signing of Republic of Ireland international Savannah McCarthy ahead of the 2022 Women’s National League season.

McCarthy captained the Tribeswomen to a fifth place finish in the WNL in 2021 and the semi-finals of the FAI Cup.

The defender was named on the WNL Team of the Year as well as being one of there players nominated for the WNL Player of the Year for 2021.

Her performances also caught the eye of Ireland manager Vera Pauw with the Kerry native earning three caps this year having not featured for the international team since 2016.

McCarthy is one of a number of players announced by the Tribeswomen with Aoife Thompson and Sinead Donovan re-signing in recent days.
