Following the recent return of Robbie Benson to Oriel Park, the Lilywhites have seen another ex-UCD midfielder land back at the club in the shape of Keith Ward.

The former Bohs man arrives at the club for his third spell at the Carrick Road club. He initially signed for Sean McCaffrey in 2011 before joining the Stephen Kenny revolution at the club in 2013.

After winning the 2014 EA Sports Cup and Premier Division title, he moved to Sligo Rovers for the 2015 season before a year long spell at Derry City. He departed the Brandywell at the end of 2016 to return to Bohemians - for whom he had played between his first two spells at Dundalk.

He spent six seasons in total at the Dalymount Park based outfit, wearing the red and black on 186 occasions and finding the net 17 times.

His last goal for the club came in the 4-0 FAI Cup Quarter Final win over Maynooth University Town and speaking with dundalkfc.com, he looked back fondly on his time at the club as well as looking forward to his return to the Lilywhites.

“I had a great time at Bohs. I absolutely loved it there and had a great relationship with the supporters and the players. The club is in a great place under Keith Long and it was a tough decision to leave but it was one I think I needed to make to take another challenge somewhere else.”

“I’m delighted to be back. When I left in 2014 and Dundalk went on to have the success it did. I didn’t expect to ever be back but when I was given the opportunity, it was an easy decision. I know a lot of familiar faces around the club and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in January”.
