Following the departure of Stephen McGuinness, Bohemians boss Keith Long has wasted no time in signing a replacement in the goalkeeping department with the arrival of Tadhg Ryan.

The Cappamore native was first choice at Treaty United last season keeping eight clean sheets in the Shannonsiders’ impressive maiden First Division campaign while also earning plaudits for his man of the match display in an extra time FAI Cup defeat to Dundalk.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper was one of a trio of Limerickmen who were at Huddersfield Town and won U18 and U23 titles at the club during a period when the Yorkshire club were promoted to the Premier League. For more on their story see here.

He returned to the League of Ireland and performed impressively for Galway United under Alan Murphy, before signing with Cork City for the 2019 season. He spent 2020 with Waterford before Tommy Barrett snapped him up for the 2021 season.

21-year-old Jordan Doherty is another Bohemians signing who has spent time in Yorkshire in his teens.

The Balbriggan native is a former Republic of Ireland U19 international who played alongside new teammate Tyreke Wilson in 2017 against the Czech Republic - a game in which Doherty scored his only goal at that level.

He spent time in 2019 on loan at USL side Tampa Bay Rowdies before making the move to America permanent at the start of 2020.

The 2021 season saw Doherty make 12 starts for the club, recording an 83% passing rate and 66.7% tackle success rate, according to uslchampionship.com, statistics which will undoubtedly help soften the blow of the departing Keith Buckley if replicated in the League of Ireland in 2022.
