Ian Ryan has added to his striking department with the signing of former Shamrock Rovers frontman Aaron Dobbs as his 2022 squad comes together.

The 22-year-old Dobbs returns to Ferrycarrig Park having played 15 times for the Slaneysiders in 2018, finding the net seven times.

The Enniscorthy man began his senior career in the Shamrock Rovers Academy and made his senior debut at his manager Ryan’s former stomping ground - netting a late consolation for the Hoops in their Leinster Senior Cup defeat at Oriel Park in the autumn of 2015, seven years after Ryan had lifted the First Division title with the Lilywhites.

For his part, Dobbs has spent the past two seasons on loan in the Premier Division - at Shelbourne and Longford Town respectively. His first spell at Wexford began with the second half of the 2017 season before returning in 2018 for a productive goalscoring period which Wexford fans will be hoping he replicates in 2022.

Another Wexford native returning to the club for 2022 is attacker Evan Farrell. Hailing from Piercestown, he opened his senior scoring account for the club in the final game of last season in his 20th game of his breakout season, having starred for Wexford’s underage sides over the past few seasons.

In a busy weekend of signings for Wexford, exciting former Bohemians Academy full back Len O’Sullivan has also put pen to paper at the club.

Hailing from Rush in North County Dublin, O’Sullivan has international experience as he lined out with the Republic of Ireland Under 15s in 2018 and domestically he played in the Enda McGuill Cup Final for Bohemians Under 19s this season as they lost out on penalties by Derry City.
