Darren Murphy has tied down a number of stalwarts to his Cobh Ramblers squad for the 2022 season with the re-signing announcements of full back John Kavanagh, defender Ben O’Riordan and forward Conor Drinan.

Having initially signed for the club on loan from Cork City in 2017, Kavanagh returned to St Colman’s Park ahead of the 2020 season and can number Waterford and Finn Harps among his former clubs. With 20 appearances last season and 45 in total for the club, he is set to break the half century in 2022.

Another looking to possibly hit 50 appearances for Ramblers next season is forward Conor Drinan. The brother of Leyton Orient striker Aaron, he has already racked up 32 club appearances after his 2020 arrival from Carrigaline United, netting twice in the league last season and once in the FAI Cup.

Defender O’Riordan will be hoping to reach 150 appearances, he’s currently on 132, and is the club’s current longest serving player having debuted for the club in their FAI Cup clash against Cherry Orchard in 2016, the year in which he also won the Munster Senior Cup with Ramblers.

He played in the 2018 EA Cup Final against Derry City, netting a late winner against Limerick during The Rams’ march to the final.

This week’s announcements are in addition to the previously announced re-signings of Sean Barron, Jason Abbott, Jake Hegarty, Nathan O’Connell, Pierce Philips, Ciaran Griffin and James McCarthy with former Cork City frontman Beineoin O’Brien-Whitmarsh also joining for 2022.
