Athlone Town have announced the re-signing of goalkeeper Niamh Coombes ahead of the 2022 Women’s National League campaign.

The goalkeeper helped Tommy Hewitt’s side to a seventh place finish in this year’s WNL.

She began her career with Kilkenny United in 2018 but joined Athlone Town for their inaugural season in 2020.

Bohemians secured her services for the 2021 season, but the shot stopper departed the Gypsies and returned to Athlone midway through the campaign.

The announcement comes shortly after the Town announced the re-signing of defender Kelsey Munroe.

Munroe began her career with Galway WFC and was part of the under-17 squad that won the League and Cup double in 2019.
