Ian Bermingham has signed a new deal with St Patrick’s Athletic which will keep him at Richmond Park for the 2022 season.

The Saints’ captain helped his side to their first FAI Cup win since 2014 in November and he now heads into his 13th season with the Inchicore club.

"It's great to be back for another season, we had a brilliant 2021, winning the FAI Cup and finishing second in the league, and we're looking to build on that in 2022,” Bermingham said, speaking to the club’s media team.

"I'm very proud to be going into my 13th year at the club, I've really enjoyed it so far, the supporters and everyone have been a brilliant support to me, it really is a special club and I'm looking forward to another season as a Saint.”

The defender began his League of Ireland career with UCD in 2007 before moving on to Shamrock Rovers in 2009. He spent one season with Rovers before making the move to Richmond Park where he remains to this day.

Bermingham has seen much success at Richmond Park over the past decade with a Premier Division title, two FAI Cups, an EA Sports Cup and President’s Cup listed among his honours as a Saint.
