Coventry City have announced the signing of former Waterford player Abel Alabi.

The 18 year old’s transfer to the Sky Blues will become official subject to clearance in the January transfer window.

Alabi played up to Under 17 level with Waterford and the defender had a trial with Coventry’s Under 23s earlier this year.

He will link up with Coventry City’s Under 23 side once the move becomes official.

"We're pleased to welcome Abel to the club. He spent some time with us last season and in the summer and impressed,” City’s Under 23 manager Luke Tisdale said, speaking to the club’s website.

"He is very physically adept and will be a big presence at the back for the Under-18s come January 1st.

"Abel will be put on an individual development plan like everyone is and he will work with the 18s for the remainder of this season, before joining the Under-23s group at the start of the 2022/23 campaign."
