Former Shamrock Rovers and UCD defender Liam Scales has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the matches against Azerbaijan and Qatar.
Swansea City defender Ryan Manning’s withdrawal from the squad means the 23-year old Celtic player will be available to Stephen Kenny for both games. Scales joined the squad prior to the departure for Baku.
This is Scales second call-up to the senior squad after being called into the September squad due injuries picked up by Dara O’Shea and Nathan Collins.
The Republic of Ireland will face Azerbaijan on Saturday, October 9 before returning to Dublin for a friendly against Qatar on Tuesday, October 12 at the Aviva Stadium.
