League Preview: Treaty United -v- Cork City

TREATY UNITED

Tommy Barrett’s Treaty United will be hoping to continue their good recent record against Cork City when they welcome the Leesiders to the Market's Field on Friday evening (kick-off 7.45 PM)

He knows that his side cannot take a result for granted though. Speaking during the week, he commented that “Cork will be an extremely difficult task for us. Facing a second full-time team in a week will really test us”.

Many would have predicted a tough campaign so far, but they have held their own. This included a draw away to Galway Utd last weekend.

Although he was disappointed with the late equaliser, he wanted to express encouragement. “We can’t fault this group of players. They have been excellent in their application. We are getting there slowly but surely.”

Kieran Hanlon may start again after proving his fitness last week.

CORK CITY

Last weekend saw the Leesiders go down to a third loss in a row in a defeat against Shelbourne. Despite Cork City's defeat to Shelbourne, Colin Healy was full of praise for the Rebel Army support that got fully behind the side.

“They were absolutely brilliant against Shels. They didn’t stop singing for 90 minutes. There was a fantastic atmosphere. I say it every week, but they really are the best supporters in the country. They can see what we’re trying to do with the club, and what the players are capable of doing. It’s fantastic to have them behind us.”

Healy is fully aware of the challenge Friday's opponents Treaty pose having seen the Limerick side getthe better of City twice this season already.

“It’s going to be a very difficult game. Treaty are a good side, and have beaten us twice already this season. We’re going into the game looking for 3 points, like we do with every game. Treaty have a good squad and are in a good position in the league, but we know what we’re going into.”

Josh Honohan & Gearoid Morrissey have returned to training while Jonas Häkkinen could be back for tomorrow. Cian Coleman & Gordon Walker return from suspension.

Referee: Rob Dowling.
