FAI Cup Preview: Killester Donnycarney -v- Wexford

KILLESTER DONNYCARNEY

Killester Donnycarney will be looking to cause one of the biggest FAI Cup shocks of the weekend as they host Wexford at Hadden Park on Sunday afternoon (kick-off is at 2pm).

Killester Donnycarney have endured a testing pre-season run, with the likes of Evan Whelan and John Brophy leaving the club during the Covid-19 enforced break on amateur football.

But they have been able to add Karl Moore to their ranks ahead of the new season.

Unfortunately for Gary Howlett’s side, they are likely to be without Moore as he is nursing an injury.

The Dubliners play in the top tier of the Leinster Senior League, but they have struggled early on this season.

They have won just one out of their first five league game, with one more draw and three defeats.

There will be a capacity crowd of 200 spectators at Hadden Park on Sunday afternoon.

WEXFORD

First Division Wexford will take on Killester Donnycarney this weekend in the FAI Cup as they look to avoid a potential exit.

Their First Division rivals Cobh were knocked out of the competition by Maynooth University Town on Saturday night so they will be looking to avoid the same fate.

Wexford have not reached the last eight of the cup since 2016, when Wexford Youths were knocked out by Derry City after defeating Firhouse Clover and Sligo Rovers in the earlier rounds.

In terms of team news, Wexford are expected to have a full fit squad for Sunday’s game against Killester Donnycarney as they look to avoid a cup upset.

Referee: Kevin O’Sullivan.
