WEXFORD YOUTHS

Wexford Youths have a chance to reduce the gap between themselves and the top of the table to one point when they host WNL leaders Peamount United on Saturday (kick-off 6.30pm).

Youths have really kept themselves in the title race up to this point in the season, but they will have to make sure not to lose to Peamount at the very least to give them a realistic chance at the title this year.

The only game the side has lost this season was their opening game against Peamount in April and with an excellent run of form they are in a great place to take the points off the current WNL Champions.

In their last game they faced title rivals Shelbourne and they managed to nick a 1-0 win despite being down to ten players with Lynn Marie Grant scoring in the final minute of the game.

That victory could give the side the momentum they need to take a much-needed win over Peamount on Saturday and leave three sides firmly in the race for the title coming into the end of the season.

PEAMOUNT UNITED

James O’Callaghan’s side are still top of the WNL table as they come off the back of their European adventure in recent weeks.

In the previous two meetings between Peas and Wexford the Dublin side are unbeaten and a win on Saturday will be essential to keep their push for a third title in a row with Shelbourne taking on Cork City earlier on Saturday.

In their last WNL game United eased to a 3-0 win over Galway at Eamonn Deacy Park with Stephanie Roche scoring twice and Aine O’Gorman netting the third on the day.

With the next game after Youths being against Shelbourne on Saturday, 11 September they will be looking to be in a good position and have the right momentum when they face one of their biggest rivals in the WNL for this year’s title.
