League Preview: Bohemians -v- Sligo Rovers

BOHEMIANS

After their European adventure came to an end on Thursday, Bohemians are back in league action on Sunday afternoon as they host Sligo Rovers (kick-off is at 3pm).

The Gypsies lost 2-0 away to PAOK Thessaloniki after bringing a 2-1 lead to Greece from the first-leg.

But it was not to be for Bohs who were undone by two defensive mishaps in the first-half.

“We lacked a little bit of belief that we could get a result,” Keith Long said after the game.

“Maybe we'll see it through a different lens in the morning but at the moment that’s my sense of it

"The overriding feeling is it's a missed opportunity.

“In a few days' time we will look back with pride at how we represented Irish football on the European stage, but we feel we've missed a real opportunity.

"Maybe the late goal at the Aviva cost us but you can’t defend in the manner we did.”

Ahead of the visit of Sligo Rovers to Dalymount on Sunday afternoon Bohs have yet to issue team news.

Stephen Mallon, however, returned from injury last week. Promise Omochere may remain a doubt.

SLIGO ROVERS

Sligo Rovers will be looking to arrest a concerning run of form as they get set to take on Bohemians at Dalymount Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Bit O’Red have lost their last five games in a row, with two of those defeats coming in the league to Waterford and Finn Harps.

This poor run of form has led to concern at the Showgrounds whether or not they can stay in the European hunt.

But their manager Liam Buckley is hoping that his side can turn things around as they find themselves in a strong position in the European places.

“We need to check ourselves out of this because it will be dog rough until now and the end of the season,” he told Ocean FM after last weekend’s defeat to Finn Harps.

“I was quietly confident last year that we would put a few results together and get in the mix to make Europe and we did.

“We’re in a good position again to make Europe but we’re going to have to play better than that.”
