It was an important day in the Women’s National League title race with each of the top three teams in action on Saturday. The Wexford Youths versus Shelbourne game was the pick of the fixtures coming into the weekend.

Peas claimed their sixth win in a row on their trip to Eamonn Deacy Park to face Galway.

Stephanie Roche scored in either half with Lauren Kelly setting up the Republic of Ireland international on both occasions.

Aine O’Gorman chipped in with a third goal 12 minutes from time with Dora Gorman setting up her captain.

Wexford Youths claimed their seventh win in a row to bring themselves firmly into the title race with the side now just a point behind their latest opponents, Shelbourne.

Lynn Marie Grant scored the only goal of the game in the 89th minute in Ferrycarrig Park for the victory with the home side down to ten players for much of the game after Kylie Murphy was dismissed earlier in the match.

The result is a huge blow for Shels with the side three points behind Peamount in the race for the WNL title.

DLR Waves got back to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Treaty United at the UCD Bowl.

Catherine Cronin opened the scoring in the seventh minute for Waves with Treaty conceding two own goals in the first half to leave the Limerick side three goals down at half-time.

Niall Connolly’s side attempted a brave comeback in the second half with Jenna Slattery scoring twice for the visitors but Jetta Berrill put Waves out of reach when she came off the bench and scored twice.
