Cobh Ramblers appoint Darren Murphy as interim first-team boss

Cobh Ramblers have confirmed that Darren Murphy has been appointed as first-team manager on an interim basis until the end of the 2021 season.

Murphy played with the club between 2003 and 2007 and was also the club’s assistant boss for a brief stint in 2016.

He was also formerly in charge of Cobh’s under-19 side, and he will take up the role as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

“I have really enjoyed my time so far working with the Under 19s and working within the club,” he said after his appointment.

“Football is a game that constantly throws obstacles in your way and that’s why we all love it.

“This is a new challenge for me and my team and we are looking forward to it.”

Chairman Bill O’Leary added: “Darren is a young, innovative, & ambitious manager who we believe will help progress the club on the field for at least the remainder of the season.

“His way of working is something we admire and is aligned to where the club is off the field.

“We believe the match between him, and the club is at the right time in our trajectory to help us both on and off the field.”
