Peamount's Claire Walsh signs for Scottish Champions Glasgow City

Scottish Women’s Premier League Champions Glasgow City have announced the signing of Republic of Ireland international Claire Walsh ahead of their next campaign.

The 26 year old signs for Glasgow on a  two year deal from Women’s National League Champions Peamount United, joining fellow Republic of Ireland internationals Niamh Farrelly and Clare Shine.

“I am delighted to have signed my first professional contract for Glasgow City,” she said speaking to the club’s website.

“It's such a successful club and I can't wait to get started and help the team as much as I can.”

Walsh had been with Peas since January 2018 after making the switch from DLR Waves, she went on to help James O’Callaghan’s side to two WNL titles in a row including the club’s League and Cup double last season.

The defender had met her current club in competition before having faced Glasgow City in the first qualifying round of the Women’s Champions League last season and only losing out on penalties.

City also announced the extension of Clare Shine’s contract for the 2021/22 season, the Republic of Ireland international has scored 57 times for the Scottish club.
