Galway United have announced the signings of Joe Gorman and Thomas Oluwa ahead of their First Division encounter with UCD on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

Gorman most recently played for Premier Division side Longford Town having signed for the club in 2020 and playing an important role in their promotion winning season.

He made 14 appearances for De Town last season and eight appearances in the Premier Division this year, he also featured in Longford’s playoff semi-final victory over Galway United last November.

“I am massively proud to join Galway United,” the 26 year old told the club’s media team.

“It is a club that are going in the right direction and they are doing things the right way. It is also a great city with a massive fan base and I can’t wait to play in front of the supporters.

“It will be great to work with John Caulfield, who is one of the best managers in Ireland. John has been there and done it as a manager so it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“There is a lot of good stuff going on behind the scenes and there is plenty of momentum building at the club. There is also a great squad here. I want to come in and kick on as a player and help the team gain promotion.”

Oluwa makes the move to Galway from Bohemians where the 20 year old made three appearances in the Premier Division this season.

The forward began his career with Shamrock Rovers appearing a handful of times for the first team as well as making 12 appearances in last year’s First Division for Rovers II and netting four times.

“I feel great about coming here,” Oluwa told the club’s media team.

“I have never been away from home before but I have enjoyed the start so far. The lads have been very welcoming and I am excited to get up to speed and get going.

“Galway United are a very good side, I have played against a lot of the boys here before. The team works hard for each other so I felt it was a great environment to join.

“I spoke to John before I came and got an insight of what training and the facilities would be like. I am excited to add to the group and keep up the team’s good form.”
