in-form Italy were forced to wait until extra-time before they could see off Austria at Euro 2020 this evening at Wembley.

Roberto Mancini’s side struggled for much of their clash against a battling Austrian side.

And they could have lost the game in normal time had it not been for the intervention of VAR to deny Marko Arnautovic a second-half header.

But they got through and scored twice in the first-half of extra-time through subs Federico Chiesa and Matteo Pessina.

Austria hit back in the second-half of extra-time through Sasa Kalajdzic – but it was not enough as the Italians must now prepare themselves for a clash against Belgium or Portugal in the last-eight.

Denmark had it far easier against Wales this afternoon as they ran out 4-0 winners over Wales in Amsterdam.

Kasper Dolberg opened the scoring for the Danes in the first-half before he then doubled their lead early on in the second period.

It was then three on the 88th minute as Jaokim Maehle slotted home before Martin Braithwaite added the gloss late on with a fine finish.

They will now face the winners of Netherlands game against the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.
