League Preview: Sligo Rovers -v- Bohemians

SLIGO ROVERS

Sligo Rovers will be looking to build on last weekend’s draw away to Derry City when they host Bohemians at the Showgrounds this evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Bit O’Red’s draw at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium came after Liam Buckley’s side lost two games in a row.

“We were relatively happy with the performance in Derry,” Buckley told his club’s media team. “After two poor games, it was important to be better and we felt we were that on the night.

“Conceding a goal in the manner we did was quite unlucky. You need a little bit of luck in games and that didn’t go our way.

“While we did improve, we are looking for more and we will need more to get back to winning games.

“Bohs are a good footballing side, they’re on a very good run and it’s always a difficult task against them.”

In terms of team news for Sligo Rovers, David Cawley is fully fit while Robbie McCourt misses out through injury.

Meanwhile, Garry Buckley is rated as a doubt.

BOHEMIANS

After winning Monday’s derby at home to Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians will be looking to continue their good form as they take on Sligo Rovers this evening.

Georgie Kelly’s strike was the difference between the side’s at Dalymount on Monday night – and it brought them to within 7 points of the top of the table.

But Keith Long is refusing to be drawn on that win – and is expecting a tough tie in the North-West.

“Sligo are an excellent team with a great balance of experience and some exciting young players.

“They beat us well in Dalymount in the last phase of games and, although we felt we could have got something from that game, they showed the quality they possess and punished us with some high-quality goals.

“Going to the Showgrounds is always difficult and after a good couple of results, we understand that we will have to produce a really good performance to get any type of result.”

In terms of team news, Stephen Mallon is a doubt for Bohemians.

Referee: Damien MacGraith.
