First Division Round-Up: Shels continue march towards the title as ten-man Bray hold Athlone to draw
Shelbourne stretched their lead at the top of the First Division to 11 points as they saw of Cork City by two goals to one at Tolka Park.
A goal and an assist from the inspirational Michael O’Connor helped Shels to another win on the bounce as Ryan Brennan also bagged his 10th league goal of the season.
Cian Murphy scored what proved to be a mere consolation for City as they remain adrift in the playoff hunt – while Shels imperious run towards promotion showed no sign of stopping.

Treaty United’s unbeaten home run also came to an end as they were defeated 1-0 at home by Galway United.
Padraig Cunningham’s headed effort was the difference between the side’s on a night where Treaty could only name five players on their bench.

UCD also brought an end to their wtretched losing streak as they won 2-1 away to local rivals Cabinteely at Stradbrook.
Goals from Colm Whelan and Liam Kerrigan sealed the deal for the Students before Cabo halved the deficit late on through Eoin McPhillips.

Meanwhile, Bray Wanderers snuck back into the playoff positions thanks to a 0-0 draw away to Athlone Town at Lissywoolen.
Ryan Graydon was given his marching orders for Gary Cronin’s side who had to play most of the game with ten-men – but it mattered little as they made their way back into the playoffs.
