Treaty United moved off the bottom of the WNL table on Saturday after winning their first game of the 2021 campaign when they ran out 3-2 winners over Cork City.

The Limerick side opened the scoring at Turners Cross when Rebecca Horgan was set up by her sister Aoife in the 15th minute.

Cork City’s Sarah McKevitt placed the ball into the top corner of Michaela Mitchell’s goal on the half hour mark to draw the sides level but Treaty went into the halftime break a goal up when Rebecca Horgan scored her second of the game five minutes later.

Gillian Keenan went on an excellent solo run up the left flank to seal the victory for the away side with a goal in the 65th minute, while Becky Cassin scored a penalty for the Rebels in injury time to close out the scoring for the day.

Athlone Town moved into sixth place in the table with their first win of the season when they beat Galway 4-3 in a seven goal thriller at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Abbie Callanan put the home side in the lead in the 12th minute with her first ever WNL goal before Tommy Hewitt’s side scored three goals without reply with Katelyn Keogh, Muireann Devaney and Kellie Brennan all scoring for the visitors in the first half.

Galway’s Lynsey McKey pulled the sides back on level terms with a goal just before halftime and a second just after the restart and that’s the way it remained until Muireann Devaney scored the winner in the 90th minute when she turned Emma Donohue’s corner into the net to claim the victory.

Shelbourne moved into second place in the WNL when they visited Bohemians and ran out 1-0 winners.

Having scored freely in recent weeks, the Reds were held to just one goal when Saoirse Noonan found Emily Whelan in the box with a great through ball in the 28th minute.

The victory is Shelbourne’s fourth win in a row and their third consecutive clean sheet.

Peamount United remain top of the WNL table after they held on to their 100% winning record for the season with their seventh win of the season on Saturday.

James O’Callaghan’s side ran out 2-0 winners over DLR Waves at the UCD Bowl on Saturday with Eleanor Ryan-Doyle scoring a brace for the current WNL Champions.

Ryan Doyle’s goals have put her in the lead in the golden boot race with the striker now on eight goals for the season, two ahead of Galway’s Rachel Kearns in second place.
