Billy Clery & Dave Bell depart Galway WFC

Galway WFC have confirmed the departure of first-team manager Billy Clery, and his assistant Dave Bell.

Clery leaves his role at the Corribsiders, citing family reasons – with the club ‘regrettably’ accepting his decision.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the club added: “Galway WFC would like to thank Billy for his distinguished service and unending commitment to improving the club both on and off the field.”

While in charge at the club, Clery oversaw improvements at Galway WFC – and saw his side just miss out on the FAI Cup semi-finals last season, losing 3-2 at the expense of Wexford Youths.

Bell also leaves the club along with Clery having only joined the club during the off-season.

Bell was formerly involved with Shelbourne where he was the Reds’ first-team boss – but he left shortly before the unveiling of Noel King at Tolka Park.

“Dave Bell has also decided to depart from his coaching role with Galway WFC to enable a new manager to pick their own backroom team,” Galway WFC added in a statement.

“Galway WFC are indebted to Dave for the coaching wisdom he has passed on to players and staff during his time at the club.”
