PEAMOUNT UNITED

Peamount United will be looking to keep their winning streak going when they host Cork City in the Women’s National League on Saturday (kick-off 6pm).

James O’Callaghan’s side don’t look like losing a game anytime soon and a 6-0 win over Athlone Town last weekend was a major show of dominance by the current WNL Champions.

Sadhbh Doyle scored twice to open the scoring before Tiegan Ruddy, Megan Smyth-Lynch, Aine O’Gorman added to the side’s tally by 70 minutes.

Orlagh Fitzpatrick added the sixth goal late in the game for her first ever goal in the Women’s National League.

With Cork City struggling to secure a win so far this season, Peas should have no trouble consolidating their position at the top of the League table with a win this weekend.

CORK CITY

Ronán Collins’ side will be disappointed with how their season is going so far with the Rebels without a win from their first six games of the WNL campaign.

City fell to their third defeat of the season when they hosted Wexford Youths at Turners Cross last Saturday afternoon.

Youths went into a 2-0 lead after goals from Aoibheann Clancy and Sinead Taylor before the Rebels’ Sarah McKevitt scored in the 74th minute to give the home side a lifeline but Youths snuffed out any hope of a comeback when Clancy scored again late on to secure the victory for the visitors.

With this week’s opponents in such a rich period of form, Cork might have to wait a bit longer for that first win of the season.

MATCH STATS

Peamount United are aiming for their 13th Women’s National League victory in a row on Saturday.

The Rebels are looking for their first win of the season.

Peamount have been beaten a couple of times in cup competition by Cork City in the last few years but the last time the Rebels won a game against United in the WNL was a 4-3 win at Greenogue in March 2016.
