Waterford unable to fulfil Sligo Rovers fixture this weekend

Premier Division outfit Waterford have confirmed that they are unable to fulfil their league fixture against Sligo Rovers this weekend.

The Blues were forced to play their under-19 side last weekend against Drogheda United under interim boss Mike Geoghegan.

This was due to a Covid-19 case identified in their camp in the lead up to their game.

They eventually would be defeated by seven goals to nil by the Boynesiders at the RSC.

“Waterford FC have today informed the FAI that we are unable to fulfill our SSE Airtricity League Premier Division fixture with Sligo Rovers FC this coming Saturday evening due to the ongoing COVID-19 positive case,” the club said in a statement this evening.

“As per HSE guidelines, a further full round of tests on our first-team squad will take place this weekend before a return to full training on Monday, May 17th, based on results.”
