Peamount United secured their fifth win of the season with a 6-0 win over Athlone Town at Greenogue on Saturday evening.

Sadhbh Doyle opened the scoring in the 36th minute, but it was in the second half that the current WNL Champions really showed their dominance.

Doyle added a second goal in the 51st minute with Tiegan Ruddy, Megan Smyth-Lynch, Aine O’Gorman and Orlagh Fitzpatrick combining to complete the scoring.

O’Gorman was in inspired form during the game with three assists attributed to the Republic of Ireland international, putting her top of the assists chart this season with four, as Peas claimed their 12th WNL win in a row.

The 2pm kick-off on Saturday saw Wexford Youths beat Cork City 3-1 at Turners Cross, a result which briefly put Tom Elmes’ side top of the table.

Aoibheann Clancy scored from a free-kick in the first half to give Youths the lead, with Sinead Taylor doubling the lead in the 56th minute with her third goal of the season.

Sarah McKevitt pulled a goal back for the Rebels midway through the second half after a well worked move by Ronán Collins’ side but Aoibheann Clancy netted a second time late in the game to kill off any chance at a comeback for the home side.

Manager Graham Kelly will have been delighted to see his side return to winning ways after their defeat to Shelbourne last week, with Shauna Carroll netting from long range to seal the three points for Waves this weekend.

Noelle Murray scored her second and third goals of the season in the first half to put the Reds in the driving seat for the rest of the game.

Jessica Ziu, Jessie Stapleton and Emily Whelan added three more in the second half to give Noel King’s side a comfortable victory in Limerick.
