TREATY UNITED

Treaty United face a tough task this weekend in the Women’s National League when they host Champions Peamount United on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm).

Niall Connolly’s side have had a tough opening few weeks of the season with just one point earned so far.

They are a side that could certainly develop and maybe go on a run if they can tighten up defensively based on their performance against Galway last weekend.

The Limerick side may have lost 4-1 to the Tribeswomen after a spectacular 10 minute spell by Galway that saw them score four times in the first half but their second half performance will give them a bit of confidence.

Treaty managed to hold Galway scoreless in that second half and even managed to get Aine Walsh among the goals with a great finish past Trish Fennelly into the bottom corner.

Peamount United are another step up again this weekend so this will be a tough game for them with the Champions in impeccable form for some time now.

Connolly won’t be helped by a list of absentees that appears to be expanding of late.

Gillian Keenan, Anna Shanagher, Alana Roddy, Lauren Keane, Emma Costelloe and Aoife Cronin are all out injured for Sunday’s game.

Anna Shine and Maura Shine are still absent as the pair prepare for their Leaving Cert examinations.

PEAMOUNT UNITED

It’s business as usual for the current WNL and FAI Women’s Cup Champions as they have started their season with three wins.

United are in spectacular form and have won all of their games going back to September 2020 when they beat Galway 2-1.

An improved Bohemians did very well to hold Peamount scoreless until half time last week but the deadlock was broken in the 65th minute and United pushed on to take the victory.

Goals from Tiegan Ruddy, Eleanor Ryan Doyle and Becky Watkins were enough to take the three points and put the side top of the WNL table.

They will be looking to add to their points this weekend against Treaty United as they aim for their 11th WNL win in a row on Sunday.

MATCH STATS

Peamount United have won their previous ten WNL games in a row.

Treaty United are looking for their first win of the season on Saturday.
